i hate myself after i came home i just watched breaking bad all day i hate this show
koujaku got a new curling iron for his final practicum and wanted to test it out
oh for fucks sake
black women are really ornamental out here. after seeing m.i.a. and r.kelly chilling together at pitchfork amid this problematic response to her middle finger and the super bowl; i’m really feeling fucking solid in the fact that no one is interested in protecting black girlhood. not even supposedly pro-woman women of color.
r.kelly was convicted of statutory rape. that is rape. not many ppl accepted it b/c she was a black girl. but i promise you the sexualized constructs surrounding black girls and the diminishing of their innocence is a globalized thing. socially everyone was saying fuckshit like “she should’ve known better”, “she was fast”, “she wasn’t a virgin”, “she should’ve gotten out of the way”, “she didn’t look 14” and all of the other apologist bullshit that places the child. the 14 year old child. as the bearer of consent to engage in sex with a grown ass man! but black girls have no innocence or safety net. we are responsible for ourselves, our communities and the intentions of those around us from birth and in the event of an attack we are forced to silence our own pain and live in trauma forever and sit at the peverbial table with our attackers b/c NO ONE WILL GET RID OF THEM!
M.I.A. (unclearly) responded to the super bowl controversy in a video scapegoated the bodies of the young black girls at the (rehearsed) super bowl. She placed her lone middle finger in comparison to the sexualized, black, girl bodies that were sussed out by madonna in a conversation about offensiveness. Never did she critique the institutional and social sexualization of bodies of color and the cultural acceptance we have towards constructing minors as sexually mature or consenting. but she placed the black girl body in a conversational comparison to her “empowering”, “punk rock” middle finger in a battle for what is worthy of outrage and censoring and what is not…outside of her many rationales being spotty, changing and unclear. I’m very clear that M.I.A. is complicit in the fuckshit. I’m not going to fall for that anti-establishment war against the machine bullshit either b/c if she had a problem with the curation and organizing of these sexualized minors; she should’ve left. but she didn’t. she was paid. she got paid. and she was contractually bound to perform at the fucking SUPERBOWL! Let’s not make this about anything outside of her fighting petty with petty. She cashed out at the expense of these black girls and the institution that ended up burning her.
let’s love her. but let’s be real and stop with this matangi mythos like ya girl can and hasn’t and won’t do no wrong.
*i’d love to hear about what she thinks about black girls as a cite for the white, philanthropic (chance giving), gaze and not just what that means in a third world context.
